This 6-month NYSDOT Highway Work Permit project involved the widening of NY 454 Veterans Memorial Highway to provide a deceleration lane and entrance into the new Amazon Distribution facility located at the corner of NY 454 and Broadway Avenue in Holbrook, Suffolk County, New York. The project included full depth asphalt pavement widening, traffic signals improvements, relocation of a red-light camera, new curbing, sidewalk replacement, new ADA curb ramps, drainage improvements, pavement striping and signage. The project was completed in 3 phases: Phase 1 involved the installation of the new entrance to the facility and curbing, sidewalks, and curb ramps along NY 454; Phase 2 involved the replacement of two [2] leaching basins and minor utility relocation; Phase 3 involved the installation of a second left turn lane and traffic signal improvements at NY 454 and Broadway Avenue and safety improvements to the divided median.
