This project involves the development of the bridging documents for the design-build team to use when building the New Secure Detention Facility. Per the New York State mandate “Raise the Age” (RTA) issued in April of 2017, 16 and 17 year old felons are to be removed from the adult population in Jails and be housed separately. The facility will house approximately thirty (30) adolescents aged 14 to 17. The new facility will be an addition on the existing correctional facility in Yaphank, NY. The facility will provide single bed sleeping rooms, dayroom, bathrooms, classrooms, food and health services and indoor and outdoor recreational facilities for the juveniles.
